What is the tipping policy in Croatia?

Tipping in Croatia is not necessary, but it is welcome.

Tipping is something that is very well accepted, so don’t be afraid to tip while you are cruising.

By tipping the crew after your cruise, you show gratuity and it is usually 5-10% of your charter price. A tip is given to the captain and is usually divided among the crew. You have to tell him, it is for everybody. But if you want, you can hand it among the crew also by yourself.

CREW

SHOWING YOUR SATISFACTION

The height of the tip depends on how much you are satisfied. If you think the crew deserves a tip, give it. If you are very happy, give 10%, if just happy give 5% and if your not so happy, leave some change or not at all.

It is very simple. More satisfied you are, the bigger tip you give, the more it will be appreciated. But if you don’t, they will not kill you either. It is not obligatory, but it will bring a smile on their faces.

MONEY CURRENCY

Croatia is using Euro as its national currency. When you are outside in restaurants or bars, a tip is not necessary but it is very appreciated.

The staff in restaurants and cafes don’t earn much money. Their salary doesn’t depend on their tip and is fixed. So they do appreciate every extra money they get.

You can also simply round up your bill and solve the problem of tipping.

If you pay with a credit card, just leave some money on the table. Be noted that sometimes the service charge is already charged and you don’t have to add anything.
