Can we choose to anchor in quiet natural bays overnight?
Anchoring in bays overnight is one of the best experiences you can get on a gulet.
You are surrounded only by nature and silence. A private spot just for you. You can’t get that experience on any other occasion.
It’s a really TOP moment, but you need to understand a couple of things that are related to anchoring at night:
- The most important thing is to observe the weather. It needs to be optimal because if there are winds and are not in the favor of your anchored gulet, you will have a rough night or even your safety could be in danger. The anchor can break and if that happens you can get stranded or even drift to open waters. So first listen to your experienced captain. He will advise you where to anchor and where it would be safe.
- You need to understand that in high season and on very popular routes finding a beautiful bay with no other boats can get quite challenging. In very popular bays you usually won’t be alone.
- And in that regard it also means that there’s a gentleman agreement. It is expected that the generator for the clima does not run all night and people can’t enjoy in peace and quiet.
- So usually the generator stays on till midnight. After that it is turned off and it is still pleasant for everybody.
- If you plan a big party we also advise you to firstly tell the captain before and he can find you some bays that are more secluded and still are beautiful. There’s no problem for making a big party. You just need to be aware that there can be other people who wanna enjoy some peace and quiet. So our advice is talk to the captain and he can avoid you some “problems” that can occur during the party.
And the best part of being anchored in bays is not only at night but also in the morning.
After you wake up you can go for a morning swim. The water is crystal clear and clean and you have your bay just for yourself. And when you come back to your gulet the breakfast already waits for you. Warm and served – BEST FEELING EVER!

If you choose in your finalization process a Half-board package we advise you that during your cruise talk to your captain and arrange that you can have dinner instead of lunch. It is recommended to do the change one day before.
When you anchor in bays it is advisable to take advantage and have dinner instead. We think that if you haven’t experienced dinners in secluded bays at least 2 to 3 times you haven’t experienced gulet cruising 100% as you should.
