Can Turkey gulets go and cross the border to Greece?
In the past gulets weren’t as much affected by the restrictions sailing from Turkey to Greece and back as in the present years.
These restrictions and the manner it needs to be dealt with change every year. If it was very flexible to sail between the countries in the past years it is not anymore and it needs more paperwork preparation and time to organize it.
The Turkish gulets are now restricted and need to embark and disembark in Turkey. They can sail to Greek waters but then need to return to Turkey. So the one way option is not possible any more.
Also it is not possible anymore to design a route where you can start in Greece, do a round route and then return to Greece.
Exceptions are gulets that are registered in Greece and sail under a greek flag with all the paperwork that is needed. Then it is OK.
You also need to be aware of the extra permissions that the Turkish gulets now need to cross the border with Greece. Not every gulet has it.
If your wish is to book a route between Turkey and Greece, state your wish to your personal salesperson so he can offer you gulets that are suitable for this route and have all the paperwork needed.
So in the process after, we avoid some of the organization issues that can occur or even some surprises when you come to your gulet and would like to make some sailing into Greek waters.
Choosing a route that combines sailing in Turkey and in Greek waters is one of the more desirable options, but needs more attention and more preparation.
We always advise them to our customers who want to explore 2 countries in one gulet cruise. And also planning these cruises always represents for us a fun challenge because of so many things you can do.
So if you decide to explore one of them just state your wish early and we can advise you what will be best for your group.
