Is there internet connectivity on a gulet?
Yess. Most of gulets have internet connectivity.
The internet on a gulet is not “satellite-connected” but it is mobile broadband internet.
There might be a problem at some remote places where the coverage is really poor or not at all.
In Croatia, the coverage is about 80% and you should not have many troubles.
When you are cruising in Turkey, the internet may be included, but as soon as you arrive in Greek waters, it can be an extra cost. It depends also on a provider. It is always good to check it with your concierge or your captain when on cruising.
Usually, the internet is good for answering emails or some other minor things, while downloading videos and watching youtube or streaming movies is not recommended due to internet limitations.
Keep in mind while you are cruising your gulet among Greece and Turkey, there are also different internet providers. And it can be a limitation due to the provider. In Greece, you can buy a prepaid internet card approximately 15€ for 5GB, 25€ for 10GB.
Depending on the network the speed of the internet will also change. The internet coverage may also be unsteady but in major ports, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Some deluxe gulets have satellite connections. If this is an ultra-important note for you, please tell this to the salesperson in advance as this is rare.
An option is also to buy a prepaid internet sim card. This way, you keep your usage of the internet under control and won’t have a headache because of the phone bill, when you come back to your home.
Keep in mind that in Croatia, Turkey, and Greece many harbors offer free-internet connection as well as most of the restaurants and bars.
